Happy International Tigers’ Day

Shalini Sinha, 31st July 2019, Pune

The great news of achieving the target of doubling the population of tigers, two years prior to the set goal, has started a celebratory wind amongst the nation. Joyed and credited for the 33% increase of tiger populous is the two most active conservators, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh. It is the pleasure for Indians to get to know about their national animal around the day of International Tiger Day. India could not have contributed in a better way to the International Tigers’ Day. In the days of landslides and environmental havocs, its a relieve for us to share that the big cat is rattling out of the endangered species list. Celebrating such ecological achievements on a grander scale is necessary. As we know, that operant conditioning, or, the reward and punishing system has tamed the mankind’s behaviour for the longest time. Henceforth, it is necessary to lavishly reward the achievements of all who contributed towards the conservation of the Tigers. The government and NGOs, can begin by jointly giving Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh the recognition and honour they deserve. In the chaotic debates of climate change, it is a moment of relief for the Indians to the acquainted to the fact that their national animal- The tigers, are rising in number. Although, it is disheartening to see the below par response of the government and the citizens. The lack of enthusiasm to celebrate the International Tigers Day, in the presence of this historic news, is appalling. The country should be celebrating the increment. Congratulations to the contributors!

Watch-out for these designer bags!

By Shalini Sinha Handbags to pick and prick Handbags are that one essential accessory in our wardrobe that needs to be carried with all outside looks. If you are going out, you need to carry a handbag. Just not any handbag but also the one that compliments and personifies your look. Handbags can be tricky as they come in various sizes, colors, and designs. But at times it so happens that, we just do not know what does and what does not. But one way to make your look trendy in fall 2019 is by seeing what is in and what is out. Designer handbags cost a handful, so it is better to not fall for something that is outmoded or soon going to be outmoded. So let's see what is in and out in the pockets.   After yesterday's evening dedicated to handbags, Lakme Fashion Week 2019 has given red and green signals to a lot of designer bags. From what I personally took as hints are what I share with you in this blog. If there is a particular bag that you really like, the...

Layout- The Hindu: editorial

Shalini Sinha   10th September 2019 Proff Kiran Thakur   Principles of Newspaper Editing     The Hindu- Editorials   The Amazon fires, an alarm that lacks proportion T. Jayaraman and Kamal Murari  The effect of deforestation can be repaired slowly. Fossil Fuel emissions cannot be put back into where it came from.   The upsurge of global environmental anxiety over the recent spate of forest fires in the Amazon, apparently marking a renewed push to deforestation, is clearly testimony to the heightened awareness of the danger to human security represented by global warming. The provocatively anti-environmental and climate denial views of Brazil’s President, Jair Bolsonaro, and his colleagues, the reining in of environmental controls if not disabling them, the President’s initial air of unconcern, and his absurd counter-allegations regarding the causes, have all contributed to exacerbating this anxiety. Predictably, this has d...
